1.Job Title: Chief Technology Officer

Location: Ikoyi, Lagos

Purpose Statement

  • The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) reports to the Managing Director and is responsible for establishing the technical vision and leading all aspects of SGL’s technology development. The CTO is the company’s top technology executive, responsible for Sahara’s technology strategy development, and future growth.
  • The CTO is responsible for managing and consolidating all the technology resources and support infrastructure these including; all related software programs and enterprise resource applications. The CTO will plan, organize, and control Sahara Group Limited day-to-day IT resource activities and collaborate with all stakeholders to achieve Sahara Group’s technology agenda.
  • The CTO will develop and implement IT architecture strategies to ensure it accommodates both current and future organizational needs.
  • The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) will be responsible for leading a team of IT, Enterprise Management and solution development professionals, he/she is expected to make major technology choices and ensure the timely launch of technology innovations contributing to Sahara Group’s future growth. As a key member of the leadership team, he/she is expected to contribute at a strategic level to business’ growth strategy and team development
  • The CTO is expected to provide leadership in identifying, assessing and managing comprehensive integration of appropriate technology to into every facet of Sahara Group operations and contribute to the improved service delivery by infusion of technology into all feasible areas of operations.

Key Deliverables:

  • Responsible for the entire IT environment of Sahara Group Limited
  • Responsible for establishing a highly digitized work environment across the entire gamut of business operations.
  • Drive opportunities for reduction in cost of operations by leveraging new technology.
  • Maintaining competitive advantage over peer organizations through the creation of a digital business and virtual working environment across our numerous geographies.
  • Optimizing and managing the technology network in a manner that delivers high cost efficiency with sufficient resilience enterprise wide.
  • Identifying needs and ensuring that the ideal software solutions are developed in a timely manner to help increase operational efficiency and leading edge work experience.
  • Develop and maintain overall framework of IT policies, standards and strategies that will empower business and people to deliver on their commitments to business strategy and within budgets.
  • Support business continuity by ensuring that there is no technology dependent failure in business operations by ensuring appropriate technology plans are in place and ever ready to guard against interruptions to business continuity. This includes identification of security threats; formulation of strategies and methods to mitigate such threats.
  • Define the priorities, objectives and targets that contribute to delivery of value to business in line with best practices and standards.
  • Develop cutting edge long term plans to sustain and support the business.
  • Lead and contribute to generating strategic insight from business data.
  • Take the lead in supporting business case justifications and ROI analysis for IT spending and initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to world class standards as relates to IT activities by establishing uniform processes and procedures in the Department.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in the IT field with 7 in a senior management position. B.Sc/B.Tech / M. Tech / /MBA degree with a passion working in a very agile fast paced environment
  • Exposure to ERP environment would be an added advantage.
  • Firsthand knowledge in supervising development of software solutions.
  • Exposure to networking, server administration , managing technology to support remote working
  • Strong project management skills and management of development, maintenance and support teams.
  • Up -to -date with the current (and future) levels of IT security, threats, vulnerabilities.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Technical Knowledge: As the CTO will be required to perform technical tasks, experience with programming, computer science; ability to adopt innovations in building digital and technology applications is necessary.
  • Communication and Influence Skill: A lot change is expected to be carried out in this role, as such it is essential that the CTO be able to express his ideas in an articulate manner and be able to influence key stakeholders.
  • Project Management: Some initiatives in this area will be fairly long-term, and require strategic timelines. The CTO should be able to balance various projects at the same time and complete them within agreed timelines.
  • Organizational Savvy: Due to the need to prioritize resources across the business, the CTO must be able to maneuver comfortably through complex policy, process, and people-related organizational dynamics.
  • Disciplined/Prioritization: Since the majority of the CTO’s work is independent, being able to self-manage and continuously work on projects without procrastinating leads to success.

2.Job Title: Head, Group Treasury & Financial Risk Management

Location: Ikoyi, Lagos
Job Type: Full Time
Level: Senior Manager/Supervisor

Purpose Statement

  • The whole aim for a position and function is to improve value in all areas of the business by managing and improving the Group’s liquidity, investments, and risk management related to the company’s financial activities and implementing the most effective strategies.
  • Overall responsibility for the running of daily Treasury operations. Reviewing, monitoring and establishing the appropriate trading strategy to ensure that forecast currency positions are, at all times in line with Group policy and agreed strategy. Overall responsibility for the working of the Treasury and Financial Risk Management System.

Key Deliverables
Treasury Management Functions:

  • Institute framework for effective continuous (‘Day-to-Day’) management of working capital and cash flows of the Group.
  • Formulate and implement investment policies, including the establishment of risk parameters.
  • Ensure adequate continuous supervision of treasury activities, including centralized cash management, bank positions and debt and structured facilities management.
  • Manage cash and investment portfolio, and thereby ensuring supervision over the fiduciary funds and surplus funds investment including money market deposits and funds within the Group.
  • Develop processes and systems to determine daily worldwide cash position; track and manage intra-company funding.
  • Institute periodic and rolling framework for Forecasts regarding sources and uses of cash flows via a robust financial planning strategy.
  • Support negotiation of facility documentation for debt, FX and other ancillary facilities within the Group.
  • Assume ownership and controls of treasury policies and procedures. Preparation of periodic and ad hoc reports for the Executive Management of Sahara Entities and the Ultimate Board of the Group on Corporate Treasury issues.
  • Ensure full implementation of the funding strategies set by the Board and as clearly supervised and directed by the Director of Finance.
  • Administer and ensure compliance to treasury policy on all bank and payment related systems both online & offline and thereby manage payment processing and fraud prevention functions
  • Maintain and build relationships with debt providers at all levels including clearing and correspondence commercial banks, regulatory agencies and other financial institutions alike
  • Manage the long and short-term liquidity of the Group, control and manage its debt position at reporting dates, including focused working capital management
  • Manage and control the forecasting, budgeting and accounting of monthly interest charges
  • Manage inter-company funding and loans among Sahara Group entities (including affiliates).
  • Be responsible for continuous process improvements and efficiencies within the treasury function, participating in wider central finance team projects and activities

Financial Risk Management Functions:

  • Manage ‘Day-to-Day’ Financial Risk Exposure of the Group based on ‘Credit Risk, Market Risk and Liquidity Risk’.
  • Perform risk assessment: Analyze current risks and identify potential risks that are affecting the company
  • Perform risk evaluation: Evaluating the company’s previous handling of risks, and comparing potential risks with criteria set out by the company such as costs and legal requirements
  • Manage and institute controls over FX and Interest Rate Exposures, implement any necessary hedging strategy and associated accounting under international accounting standards and the Group Treasury & Financial Risk Management Policy.
  • Ensure treasury activities are in compliance with treasury policies, accounting guidelines, governance policies and internal controls.
  • Work with Sahara Business Divisions, Functional Departments and Operating Entities to ensure financial risk is correctly identified and advising on appropriate risk mitigation and instruments (which include, Foreign Exchange Transaction Risk, Balance Sheet FX management and Commodity risk).
  • Monitor and report on Treasury related risk limits providing periodic input into Board reporting.

Minimum Qualifications/ Experience

  • University degree (or it’s equivalent) in Accounting, Actuarial Science, Economics, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 10 years cognate working experience (Post-NYSC) in Accounting and Finance Function(s) in a reputable organisation(s), with at least 5 years’ experience in a managerial role.
  • Must possess professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, CIMA, ACA, ACCA, CPA or ACTN
  • MBA in a recognised and reputable institution or business school will be of added advantage.
  • Major “Business Applications” and “ERP Applications” experience would also be beneficial and of an advantage.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Advanced Treasury Management Competence (including knowledge of Global Treasury Management Standards)
  • Advanced Financial Risk Management Competence ((including knowledge of ERM Framework)
  • In-depth knowledge and application of Derivatives [or Derivative Contracts]
