Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a Danish international non-governmental organisation, which promotes and supports durable solutions to the problems faced by refugees and internally displaced people all over the world. DRC is present in more than 30 conflict territories around the world assisting displaced people with shelter, food, income generating activities, and wide range of other assistance. 1.Job Title: Head of Support Services

Location: Yola, Adamawa
Availability: As soon as possible
Designation of Duty Station: Non-Family duty station.

Overall purpose of the role

  • The Head of Support Services will offer overall direction and management of all support services in DRC Nigeria.
  • The Head of Support Services will ensure the consolidation of effective and efficient support services in the areas of finance, administration, IT, human resources, procurement and logistics.
  • He/She will play a key role in developing and implementing country specific strategies as well as devising, implementing and improving operational systems, processes and policies in support of DRC’s mission in Nigeria, in line with DRC international and regional operational standards and procedures.

Requirements

  • Post graduate degree in Business Administration, Finance or accounting professional qualification such as ACCA or CPA, Procurement and supply chain management is desired.
  • 7 years INGO or other international agencies experience in finance or operations management in international humanitarian programmes, including a demonstrated ability to set up operational management systems in a large programme and direct experience of delivery of humanitarian programme in an emergency response.
  • Excellent knowledge in reviewing major international donor reports and knowledge of major donor rules including UNHCR, WFP, ECHO, EC, DFID, DANIDA and USG.
  • Possess strong analytical and conceptual skills.
  • Proven management and leadership skills.
  • Strong accounting and analytical skills.
  • Proven commitment to accountable practices. Knowledge Navision financial software will be an added advantage.
  • Previous experience in setting up systems in a new country programme is an asset.
  • Knowledge of working in challenging and insecure environments.
  • Proven ability to manage large varied workloads and deal constructively with stress and periods with long hours.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and work with limited supervision.
  • Proactive, stable and robust character and a good team player.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish effective working relations at all levels.
  • Commitments: DRC has a Humanitarian Accountability.

Languages:

  • Excellent communication skills in English is required.

We offer

  • Contract:  2 years with possibility of extension, subject to funding and Performance.

2.Job Title: Country Safety Advisor

Locations: Maiduguri, Borno
Contract Type: Expatriate contract

The Job

  • The Country Safety Advisor (CSA) will manage all aspects of the DRC Safety Risk Management (SRM) system in all of Nigeria, for both DRC and DDG programmes
  • The CSA, in consultation with local safety staff and programme manager, under the technical supervision of Regional Safety Advisor and under the direct line management of the Country Director is expected to pursue the following objectives and duties in his/her daily work:

Overall Objectives

  • Manage the development and implementation of the Danish Refugee Council’s (DRC’s) Safety Risk Management System (SRMS)
  • Ensure compliance with DRC safety policy as stated in Chapters 19 & 20 of the DRC Operations Handbook
  • Supervise and mentor the Local Safety Officers (LSOs) in Yola and Mubi and the Safety Focal Point (SFP) in Abuja
  • Develop policies and procedure, in coordination with project staff, for the safe delivery of program activities.

Experience and Technical Competencies 
Essential:

  • At least 3 years’ experience working with NGOs and/or other international agencies
  • Experience working in the designated area of operations (West Africa)
  • Management and/or supervisory experience within an NGO
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Stable, moral and robust character and a good team-player
  • Excellent communication skills, calm and a good sense of humour
  • Proven commitment to accountability practices.
  • Emergency First Aid qualification (within the last year)

Preferable:

  • Training in safety, fire and evacuation procedures
  • Training in safety and disaster management
  • NGO/UN Security Management experience
  • Military/Police experience (those with officer-level or senior non-commissioned officer rank should apply)

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant area of study
  • Master’s Degree preferred

3.Job Title: Reporting and Communications Specialist

Location: Yola, Nigeria with regular travel to DRC Nigeria bases in Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe states and deep field locations
Contract length: 1 year (with possibility of extension depending on funding and performance)
Start date: ASAP

About the Job

  • The Reporting and Communication Specialist is responsible for ensure that all information and data collected from the field is compiled, documented, analyzed and reported in a results-based and timely manner for DRC Nigeria internal purposes and as per donor requirements.
  • The position is also responsible to develop high-quality communication products, highlighting DRC Nigeria programme activities for external audiences.

About You

  • University degree in a relevant field such as Social Sciences, Development Studies, Journalism, Communications or similar
  • Certification or equivalent professional experience in graphic design, publishing, or similar.
  • Knowledge of relevant sectoral areas implemented by DRC-DDG Nigeria programmes – including protection, food security, WASH, shelter, NFIs, mine action, mine risk education, and armed violence reduction;
  • Highly developed skills and demonstrated capacity in editing of written and audio-visual reporting and communication products to the quality required for submission and dissemination to external audiences;
  • Advanced computer literacy in publishing and design software (Office suite, Adobe, InDesign, etc), evidenced by a portfolio of communications products produced by the candidate;
  • Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively in a multi-cultural environment with competing priorities, tight deadlines, and in a complex emergency context;
  • Ability to live and work in an insecure and high stress environment. As a person you have the ability to live and work in an insecure and high stress environment, and demonstrate DRC’s five core competencies in everything you do:
  • English – fluent with capacity to produce high-quality written products for formal reporting and public communication purposes
  • Hausa and other languages used in northeast Nigeria an asset, but not essential to the position
